SHARED REAL STORIES

submitted by Bobby & Amy Hoppough on January 2, 2009

Today my wife and I Amy had to make the toughest decision we every had to make. We put down our Rottweiler Kayla.

We went through the pain meds and took it as far as we dared. I told Amy it gets to a point when we are putting our own emotions ahead of our most loyal friend and it is wrong. Kayla was one of many dogs we have owned. Yes, they were all good dogs - but Kayla was a "great" dog - not just good. She was a lovable teddy bear that the whole neighborhood loved. That was what made it so hard. We had neighbors sobbing with us, not just for us. They were saddened at the loss.

Kayla didn't deserve to suffer and I wouldn't allow it. When the pills didn't seem to help any more, it was time. So for all you that are with heavy hearts because you also are losing a "great" dog - OUR prayers are with you.
