AKC / Canine Health Foundation
Parent Club Program Objectives

Provide assistance with identification and review of proposed research:

  • Administration for project cost, identification of researcher (sends out RFP), conduct peer review with expert scientific panel, coordinates research progress reports.
  • Establishment of Parent Club Fund for breeds without an IRS 501( c )(3) charitable health foundation a donor fund is established with the CHF. Donations to this fund would be tax deductible and the parent club would have control over where the money was spent.
  • Parent Club Matching Club Program - AKC/CHF would fund 50% of the research cost on any approved grant.
  • Multiple breed clubs can participate in the same project.
  • AKC/CHF provides credibility to the project.
  • Parent Clubs can go out and identify their own researchers and present the project to AKC/CHF to finalize the details.
